THEATRICAL INTERPRETING
Theatrical Interpreting - Each show will require a minimum of 2 ASL/English interpreters.
We actively seek interpreters with either BEI or RID certification. We will also accept resumes from well-qualified intern interpreters who have an upcoming test date for certification AND who have completed an internship in theatrical interpreting. Interns will be paired with an interpreter mentor who has obtained certification and has significant theatrical interpreting experience. Our approach involves script analysis, translation skills, timing & memorization.

Time Commitment: (not including personal practice time)
Script analysis - you will receive the script upon show assignment
Preview of the show - minimum of 5 days or more before the show date at the Theater
Initial meeting - weekday evening (virtual meeting)
Rehearsal - Saturday afternoon or evening (in-person)
Performance - on show day
ASL Language coach and/or interpreting coach will be available to attend preview and provide guidance at the initial meeting.
Fee information will be provided to you upon your selection as an event interpreter. Fees are based on interpreter experience and length of the show. All fees will be paid 30 days after receipt of your invoice.

All contract interpreters should possess professional liability insurance. Policy terms should meet the minimum standards of the profession. Interpreters must adhere to venue safety protocols in place at the time of the performance.

- Resume with contact information (name, email, text/phone #);
- Preferred venue or show(s);
- Rehearsal availability; and
- Link to your video sample interpretation of a dramatic and musical clip of the show (3-4 minutes video). This cannot be just an interpretation of music - select both spoken lines and a musical component for your source message.
